Emily, the lone huntress of the forest (backyard), sat very, very still. Her sleek fur camouflaged in the underbrush (under a bush). She was stalking her prey from across the savanna (grass), watching its every movement. Suddenly she saw her chance and pounced with the speed and agility of her ancestor cats. Her relation to lions and tigers was now clear. She was no longer a lap cat, purring and begging for treats, she was a hunter, seeking blood and the sinewy tendon of the wild chipmunk. This is our Emily.

So proud was the hunter of her accomplishment, she wanted to share her bounty with her family.

Alas, her family had already eaten their breakfast and the battle worn Emily had to leave her prize in the rain.

The little chipmunk will be returned to the earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Its body will become the grasses that Emily will also eat, and then throw up. It's all part of the great circle of life.

You know that "chill" you get when you see something so repulsive it just sends shivers through your body...I just had that again after looking at these pictures again. I'm just glad that wasn't my back porch!
I love that she's going to eat it and then throw it up. That's my cat, a bulimic to the core.
