I have a bunch of unrelated thoughts swirling around my head today, of no particular importance, and in no particular order:
• The UPS guy and the Fed Ex guy (both affectionately called "Package Guy/Girl" by Maddy) deliver packages in our neighborhood every single day. Every day. I didn't know that before I stayed home.
• Maddy and the cat, Emily, both took a nap in the afternoon sun in the living room today. Maddy hasn't had a nap (car doesn't count) in so long I can't remember when. I wish I would have taken a picture, it was so cute.
• We are all fighting a little cold- just the kind of cold that makes you feel extra tired but not extra sick- thus the nap.
• How much candy can I eat in one week? Too much.
• Any food that starts with olive oil and garlic and ends with basil on top is yummy. Unless it involves seafood, then yuck.
• Two weeks in a row at the public library we have run into a sports broadcaster from a major Chicago network. How do I know? He was talking all about trying to get a job on ESPN on his cell phone while sitting 2 feet away from me while his 2 year old son played next to Maddy. Otherwise I have no clue who he is.
• People who talk on the their phones while in the library with their kids annoy me. I'm not talking about the "what should I get for dinner", or "where are you, I'm here" type conversation that lasts 2 minutes, I'm talking about long conversations of 15-30 minutes or more. It really extra annoys me when it's the nannies who are being paid to watch the kids they are not paying attention to while on the phone.
• Would it be ok for a kid to talk on the phone for 30 minutes and ignore their mom or dad sitting right there, in a public place?
• Maddy is getting invitations from all of her classmates for their birthday parties. Sigh. Does this mean I have to invite ALL of them to hers? I'm a big fan of just a few kids, 4-6, not 20! (I know the answer is yes.)
• I saw a cardinal eating some of our stray pumpkin seeds from smash-fest '09. I think we will have to smash our pumpkins every year. I'll have to keep thinking of "experiments" we can do with them before or after smashing.
• I'm going to go out to the compost pile tomorrow and pull out some of the pumpkin seeds that are left and give them to the cardinal.
• Maddy's school sent home a lunch sack to fill with stuff for their art center. The kids will dump it all into a huge pile and sort it out into bins. How fun is that? I would love to watch this. We loaded our bag with ribbons, fabric scraps, felt scraps, pipe cleaners, cupcake wrappers, doilies, yarn and stickers from an old (very old) stash I had from when I taught 4th grade between 1990-1994.
• I love it that some of my old 4th graders from 1990-1994 have friended me on Facebook. They are so grown up and doing so well. I can still see their 10 year old personalities in their late 20-something selves.
• I signed up Maddy for a "creative dance" class starting in January. I hope this one is a go, the hip hop class this fall never ran. She needs a pink leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. I ordered them from an online store so I could get it all at once without running around looking for things in the right style and size. The package came today (via the Package Guy). I am going to save it for a Christmas present. Would it be ok if I got myself the same outfit? I am a secret ballet dancer wanna-be. My outfit must have pink leg warmers pulled down around the heel of the shoe.
• I hope we can get some decent health care legislation passed. Something, anything is a good starting point. We have no idea what is going to happen, if it will be a huge success or a horrible disaster, but our country is about the people, not the corporations, the people. We need to take care of the people and the corporations can (and will) take care of themselves.
Ok, enough for rambling for now. Is it Friday yet?

Great ramblings! I thought you were going to say you were sad the package guy/girl doesn't come to your house...but then he did so I'm sure you were happy. I'm home sick today...I asked Chad if I could just sit around and online shop all day. I love getting packages in the mail.
Last night we watched Jay Leno (before I passed out) and he made a joke about Obama's policies, mainly that he doesn't have any. It's sad, I want Obama to do a great job, I wish he was able to get more done. It hasn't even been a year yet...at least he still has time.
My random thought, I love it when Jordan watches Oso and at the end Oso says, "You deserve a special digi-medal, too." And Jordan says, "Thank you, Oso." It's sweet.
