Wednesday Night

So here it is, Wednesday night, and I haven't blogged in a few days and I really feel like I don't have much to blog about this week. We have been chugging right along in our usual routines, nothing much exciting to mention. I did do a thorough sweep of the floor tonight, I even moved chairs and swept behind them. I think that's worthy of another mommy Girl Scout badge. Marc's brother came over to watch Maddy while we went to a meeting and I couldn't have Luc see what the floors normally look like- egad! Maddy adores her uncles so much, she gets this completely resentful look on her face when we come home. I can't wait to see what that looks like at 16.

I have been working on a little project/gift and I finally have it finished, but I can't reveal it until the recipient has it in her hands. This is one of those projects that seemed quite uncomplicated at first, but then when you are just about to finish you realize you are way in over your head- so now it's either rethink the whole thing and really commit to finishing or scrap it (I seem to run about 60/40 commit/scrap). Well, for this particular venture I brainstormed a complete rework of the project with Marc and found a much, much better solution than the original directions, and now I am quite pleased with the results. The added bonus- the sewing machine is finally off the kitchen table for the first time in a month, and I swept up all of the threads and scraps and dust bunnies breeding under the table. YAY to progress!

Oh yes, here is something, as I was ready to pack it all up today I really wanted to make Maddy one of those cool wheat sacks with lavender essential oil. You heat them in the microwave and sleep with them by your feet. I thought Maddy would really dig something like that. I bought the wheat at the grocery store about 2 months ago, bought the lavender essential oil about a month ago, and decided I would finally make the wheat sack today before I dismantled Sewing Central. Luckily, it was quite easy to make, went together quickly and most of all, Maddy LOVES it. She asked for it at bedtime and wanted it warm, but not hot. It smelled wonderful, and we all know a princess practicing her potty has particularly pungent smells eeking forth from her room.

I just realized I didn't take a picture. Rats. I'll get to it tomorrow (yeah, yeah, yeah, don't hold your breath).

I am off now, to watch either Lost or Idol, I can't decide which one wins my attention tonight and which one waits for tomorrow. Thank you to TiVo, one of my all time favorite inventions.

I miss your blogging!!! This is the first week in a while where I feel like we are back into a routine and it just feels so good. I think the nice weather (except for the rain) and just not having too much to do this week has been great. I'm loving it. I love March, I just feel like spring is on the verge and the end of the school year will be here soon. I love teaching in April and March after ISATs.

I am going to be getting my sewing machine out this weekend! Well...it actually sits out upstairs in the loft, but I'm actually going to use it this weekend. I was on a roll for a while there and then I kind of got stuck. Chad is going to DC this weekend and Jordan and I are going to Grandma and Papa's house. I'm hoping my mom can help me get some stuff done. I'm dying to make a couple of pairs of pants for Jordan, we'll see how those turn out. Then I have some other fun projects I want to try. I can't wait!
