New Carpet

Last month I posted about a little incident we had with water in our lower level. If you missed it or need a refresher, view my sketch here.

Well, we decided to go ahead and replace the old damp carpet because it just wasn't smellin' so sweet. The damp from the water invasion, along with a cat accident last summer really left us feeling like the carpet's time was up.

A trip to Lowe's was in order, where we found carpet on the roll on sale, plus installation on sale, so we decided to go for it. Hopefully we can get many years out of it before we need to change it again.

We moved all of the toys and small furniture upstairs to the living room. It looked like this for a few days:

One night Marc asked me if he should pick it up before we went to bed. I laughed then I told him to leave it.

A few days later the new carpet went in.

The sneaky mommy elf spent an entire evening sorting and organizing the toys and weeding out a few things Maddy has outgrown. It looks much better now and Maddy is practicing (with a lot of encouragement from Mom and Dad) putting away her own toys every time she is done playing.

We have lots of tea parties now at the table, and the dress up clothes are very easy to find. YAY!

Notes:
1) We owned none of the stuff in the picture before Maddy was born. Babies come with elves that make toys during the night. They are really good at making small toys that hurt a lot when you step on them. I think more than half of what I see here was given to us.
Bonus- neighbors with 4 kids.
2) I take it back, we owned one thing in the picture, the blue rug under the table.
3) Go back up to the picture of the living room and you can see Marc's cloud pictures on the wall. We found the picture lights at Ikea.

We are talking about getting our carpets cleaned and moving everything is the biggest issue. I can't imagine doing it...I like the idea of weeding out toys. We need to do that. We still have random chew toys and rattles in our toy box! You have a nice toy elf...some of our toys I wish we never had! :)

This is the post that changed our lives!!!!! (In a good way!) We are in our beautiful, clean, decluttered living room with all the toys up in the toy room. Love it!
