My Embarrassing Moment

I took Maddy to the library today to check out and return a few books, plus it's a great place to play on a cold Saturday morning. As we were getting ready to leave the library I took Maddy into the bathroom for the obligatory potty check. She took care of business but was convinced the flush was going to be way too loud. She hates loud toilets, and I agree, they are sometimes way too loud. I told her to wait to flush until after I went too, that way we only had one flush to deal with. I proceed with my turn and Maddy freaks out about the flush and runs out of the bathroom. This particular bathroom is not a stall in a ladies room, it opens right into the library. As I am right in the middle of my business the door opens, and stays wide open, while the Maddy May runs off. I am left screaming, "Maddy, NO!" with no other option than to get up, pull up, and dive for the door in one swoop. I am sure the guy who walked by right at that moment is blogging about the "crazy lady screaming with her pants down in the bathroom at the library" himself. So, take this as a warning. If you use the bathroom with a child in tow, check to see how the door locks. If it locks with just a push button that unlocks with a pull on the handle- WAIT- do not go yet. You may thank me for this wisdom later.

She is so funny the way she is about public toilet flush sounds. When I take her into a stall, she keeps her fingers in her ears the whole time she uses the potty because there are certain bathrooms with automatic flushes on the toilets, so even if you're still sitting there, your motion can set it off. It literally scares the piss out of her every time! :)

Isn't it funny the little things kids think about that we totally just take for granted? I have to warn Jordan when we are going to turn on the vaccum or the popcorn popper. I love the story, though, so funny! I think it's especially funny because it wasn't me!!! :)

Oh Geez, that's awful. Especially at that age because you have no choice other than to run after her. I'm sure it was a character building moment for you though. Just tell yourself that to feel better.

Oh,I am laughing so hard. I am sitting at my desk, eating my Cheerios lunch and finally catching up on your blog. And now the Cheerios are all soggy because I was laughing too hard to eat. I hope you know I'm laughing with you, not at you. Isn't that what we all say when we're so glad the unfortunate incident happened to our friend and not to us! What a gem Maddy is.
