Maddy had her dance recital today. Her dress rehearsal was yesterday and I actually took better pictures at the rehearsal. The auditorium was oversold and packed and hot and sweaty. Fun. Maddy's hair went rogue and became a sweaty, frizzy mess of bobby pins and hairspray to try to keep it tame.
Note to the park district: never tell frantic mothers trying to buy tickets for grandparents that the show is already sold out. Not good. I was ok, but some of the other mothers in our dance class had an exchange of words with the park district folks who sold 20+ tickets to some families and 0 to other families. Oops. Who knew that park district dance recital could be so stressful?
Maddy's favorite part about getting ready was the make-up. She must have raised her hand three times to ask the fabulous Miss Kim if she could wear make-up. The answer was yes, with lots of blush and lip gloss.
Can you tell who the alpha female ring leader is in this group? She asked them to "huddle up" and gave some kind of, "Go team Pteranodon," cheer. The bigger girl is an older sister of one of Maddy's dance mates. She was in a tap dance class. Maddy waved to her the entire time the girl was on stage tapping away, and not at all able to see Maddy in the audience.
Being patient and waiting your turn is so hard!
This is the frizzy, sweaty, hair-sprayed mess. She was still quite lovely. She did a wonderful job, I sat in the audience with happy tears. I don't think she will be starring in the Nutcracker anytime soon, but she sure did love every moment of dance. I have a feeling this girl is going to be a soccer star.

So grown up. I absolutely love the picture of her in the middle of the circle of girls talking. She is such a champ. Can Charlotte please be as cool as Maddy? I can only hope!
Love it! Looks like it was a super fun day for Maddy & she is totally a ringleader - I am jealous, I was never that outgoing at age 4! She's definitely growing up...too fast!
Can I just say I love the blue tu-tu? I'm not usually a blue girl but that is so cute! I like the makeup, too!
I forgot to tell you yesterday that one of my close friends from high school who I actually am still friends with now was in a tap dance class with me in 2nd grade. We weren't friends when we took dance together but I totally remembered her and we even had pictures of us in our black and white tap dance outfits!!! :)
