Today is the end of Week 1 of the Kitchen Cure. Are you working along with me? I have a few more pictures to share, then I'm ready to move on to Week 2.
Spice cabinet: not terrible, not great either.
Here is the before. I forgot to take a picture when I began (I jumped right in) so you see it with one shelf empty.
I keep a list of my spices on the inside of the cupboard door.
When I am planning meals and looking at recipes I can jump up and see if I have something I need without picking up 15 bottles. I also sort them alphabetically, sort of. The spices are sorted by alphabet groups A-B, a group of C's all alone (there are so many, cinnamon, cloves, curry, cream of tartar and on and on) F-H, and M-W. No spices for i, j, k or l. Hmmmn, I wonder why.
I did find a couple of old taco seasoning packets that had to go in the garbage, but not before I took a picture, because that's what I do now, I take pictures of strange things for my blog.
Three years old isn't THAT bad. The black pepper I threw out was older than Maddy.
Here is the nice clean, organized cupboard:
I tackled one more cupboard. It's a storage cupboard. It holds my food processor, cake pans, Maddy's playdough collection, some art supplies, a pasta roller, and a lot of what I shall call picnic-ware: plates, forks, cups etc.
It was bad. The stuff in there would slide around when you wanted to get one thing out. I took my first trip to the Container Store to buy stuff to hold more stuff (how weird is that?). I bought a heavy duty pull out drawer for my food processor. LOVE IT! It is just what I wanted, Marc installed it for me right away, and it has already been used with delight.
Before:
YIKES! This is/was my one really bad cupboard.
After:
Happy Dance!
