Run, run, run
I have been walking 3 miles a day, 3-4 days a weeks since August, now I'm kicking it up a notch to add running to the mix. I am walking 5 minutes then running 2, and I'm doing alright. I'm proud of myself. It's just a start, but even a mountain climber has to start at the bottom. To make it a little more fun my wonderful techie husband gave me a Nike+ for my iPod. I put one part in my shoe and the other part attaches to my iPod. This very cool device keeps track of my pace, distance and time, AND I can play my awesome Madonna playlist while I run. Only early Madonna, nothing past 1990. When I sync my iPod back to my computer, iTunes sends everything to the Nike+ website where I have a cool graph of my results. So far I have walked/barely run over 50 miles!! Loving it!So, my question today is, do you run, and if so, what do you get out of it?

Your husband is the best! You will continue to love having your nike+!
I'm also so glad you are starting to run and that you are enjoying it!
I treasure my running time. I love to be out in the beautiful weather enjoying the breath taking surroundings. I love the feeling I have when after I've gone running. I love the feeling of accomplishment. I love that I don't feel quite as guilty eating a cookie because I went running earlier. I love what running does to keep my healthy. Do you want me to keep going because I could.....
Can I tell you again how happy I am that you started a blog? Well I am. It was so great to see you and your family the other night. I've been so blessed to know you.
You need to check out my sister Amanda's blog.

There is a book she just posted about that I think you would really enjoy. I think the two of you have a lot in common and you would might peace. comfort, joy in reading her blog.
Ah! I love to read...but I have totally given it up lately. You can see what I've posted about running on my blog...but I love love love it! I only started running in college when I decided I needed to try and live a healthier life. I started like you, I would run and then walk and then run and then walk until I worked up to running 3 miles a day. I kept that up for a long time and then Chad and I even ran the Chicago Marathon slowly adding more miles. It was a great experience. I love feeling free when I run. My favorite time to run is in the morning when the sun is barely coming up or has just come up. I feel connected to nature. Sometimes, it feels like I'm the only one awake at that time. Running is a great workout to me and, like Laura said, I just feel energized when I'm done. I feel cleansed almost.
Anyway, I haven't run lately for a few reasons. One, going back to school, I feel like I have no time to run. I need to hang out with Jordan when I get home and then when he goes to bed it's dark and I haven't gotten into the mode of going to the fitness center to run on the track there. I can't run in the cold anyway because my lungs get angry with me. Maybe in a little bit I'll get back into going to the fitness center to run. For now I'm doing Jillian Michaels workouts that are on On Demand and I'm walking to get steps in for a fitness program I am doing through my health insurance. I miss the summer and running though.
Congrats to you! Keep it up, running is great! Just be careful to listen to your body and increase slowly so you don't hurt yourself. It's not fun to get going and then to have to stop and rest because you push yourself too hard. :)
