Yesterday we took a trip to the Brookfield Zoo to see the dinosaur exhibit! It was so much colder than we ever imagined it would be (it's only 10/10 for goodness sake) really, 40°, with wind? We should have had coats and gloves and scarves and maybe hats too. Brrrr, it was cold. We suffered along in the cold because we wanted to see the dinosaurs and we were NOT leaving until we did.
The dinosaurs did not disappoint. Maddy has started watching a show called Dinosaur Train on PBS. It's made by the Jim Henson workshop and it is really fantastic. Maddy has been watching it less than 2 weeks and she already knows the names of dinosaurs, what quadrupeds are, what herbivores and carnivores are, what it means to migrate, and what it means to be extinct. Awesome. I love the show because they had one whole segment just on dinosaur poop. He he he, poop.
The only downside to all this dinosaur learning is that I have to learn how to pronounce everything (and Maddy will correct me) and she is roaring a little too much when at school, playing or anytime around other kids. Apparently she started a dinosaur club at school, but she's not allowed to roar, it hurts the teachers' ears.
We also spent time with living, breathing, non-extinct animals, like goats. Maddy has a keen eye on watch for the little pygmy goat with a taste for clothing. He took a nibble on my coat and Maddy's coat.
Today we put together our own dinosaur train, with a playdough volcano. I didn't take a picture of the train going around the volcano! Sorry. We stuck dinosaurs on with playdough and let them take turns riding around the mountain.

Fun! At gymnastics this week Jordan's coach said something about Dinosaur Train and Chad and I looked at each other because we were both confused by that. Now we know! We'll have to look for it. Jordan is soooooooo in love with trains right now but I'm sure he would love dinosaurs, especially if he saw them on TV. And now I understand Maddy and her roaring!
I gotta tell ya, I don't miss the crazy cold weather in Chicago. 40 degrees really?
