Today I sign up Maddy for Kindergarten. Just writing that swells me with emotion. I am so excited for the opportunities and learning coming her way, but I am sad for the loss of her baby years. They are over. Sniff.
Maddy is going to be in a dual language program, so she will receive instruction primarily in Spanish for the first few years. By 3rd grade she should be fluent, not only speaking, but also reading and writing in Spanish. Bi-literate. It's so very cool. It rewires the brain. We are very appreciative of this opportunity for her, it's pretty special.
I am off to the parent meet and greet and official registration. Wish me luck that I hold it together, I make no promises.

How did it go??? I was just talking to someone yesterday at work about how I'll be thrilled for J to go to kindergarten so we won't have to pay so much for daycare! I'm sure I'll be sentimental, too though when the time rolls around. :)
