Blackjack

We lost Blackjack today. We knew it was coming, but that doesn't make it any easier.  Maddy and I said good-bye before we left for school and Marc took him to the vet for his final moments. It was time, he couldn't stand anymore. Jack died almost 5 years to the day after Finnegan. I was pregnant with Maddy when we lost Finn. That was a heartbreaker, he was too young and not ready to go. Finn and Jack were best buds and would curl up and sleep in a yin yang circle. After Finn died Jack wouldn't come out of the basement for a full year. It took another year after that before we deemed him "normal" again. I think he was as happy as ever this past year before age began to take its toll. He would pounce on Emily and torture her every chance he could. Emily- has claws, Jack-no claws, yet Jack almost always won. The house already feels as though something is missing. Emily is back to being the only cat, and I think she likes it that way. She had to share with stinky boy cats for the last 7 years. Here's to you, Jack, you crazy thing. I hope there's abundant catnip wherever you are.

I know I'm way behind on this post but I wanted to let you know how sorry I am about Blackjack. Pets are seriously part of the family so I'm sure it's sad to see him go. Hopefully Jack and Finn are together having a glorious time!
